I block-selected the eighty files in the Dolphin window that I wanted to copy to the phone and dragged them to the phone’s Download directory window in the Firefox window. I launched AirDroid, launched Firefox on my laptop and opened, and was able to connect the laptop and phone quickly and easily.

I immediately used Play Store on my phone to install AirDroid.

Last week I bought a Samsung Galaxy Note II and I needed to transfer a lot of large PDF files from my laptop to the new phone. Well, today I found out about AirDroid, a clever and useful Android application that can do the same thing, as well as the other tasks that MyPhoneExplorer can do, such as transfer files between my laptop and my phone, typing SMS on the laptop to send from the phone, and so on. I guess pushbullet is one of those things I never knew I needed so bad until I learnt about it, I guess simplicity and quickness without having to install anything is what sold me, meanwhile AirDroid is something I use situationally when I forget my usb cable, but either way that's my opinion, and maybe people with faster internet connections have better use for AirDroid.In a previous article I explained how I installed and used the Windows application MyPhoneExplorer in WINE to manage the phone book (contacts list) in my HTC Desire mobile phone. Say I'm browsing reddit and I see a neat youtube video I want to check out at home, so I just push it to all my devices via the pushbullet chrome plugin and click 'push' and when I get home boom there it is, regardless if I grab my tablet or laptop first.

Also, I found the device control feature pretty useless since touch control is much faster than mouse usually, and if you want to type stuff, why use the mobile client on your desktop when most applications have a cleaner, faster, desktop client? Meanwhile, pushing individual links, files, photos and sometimes songs during the day to all my devices (phone, tablet, pc and sometimes my GF's phone) is something I do a lot during the day and at work which is what makes pushbullet great for people on the move like me. I've used AirDroid once, but I didn't have much use for it since the few times I connect my device I usually transfer +10gb of fresh movies and songs which takes a long time in my slow internet connection. While Pushbullet allows you to 'push' stuff between all of your devices instantly.

AirDroid wants you to be able to manage your device wirelessly, and this is pretty neat for those times you forget your usb cable and need to send a few files all at once, or want to control your phone from your pc.

Pushbullet and AirDroid look like they are for the same thing, but are in fact used for completely different things.
